In 2005, at one of Anke's first exhibitions, I was fascinated by the painting "Green Shoes". On the one hand, the painting radiates coolness and distance, but on the other hand, eroticism, but also fragility and loneliness. The complementary contrast underlines this contradiction in my eyes. I absolutely had to have it. It has been with me ever since, I still enjoy looking at it and keep discovering new facets. Anke's painting style is exact, precise and shows every little detail. This makes it seem lively and by no means monotonous.

A few years later, I commissioned Anke to immortalize my favorite cowboy boots on canvas. The boots, which have since gone out of fashion - perhaps they will become fashionable again at some point - were staged dynamically by Anke, as if I had just taken them off and, as often happens, left them lying untidy on the floor.

With her choice of detail, Anke Rohde has managed to capture the luxurious emptiness of our era and to reflect it with her precise brushstrokes in a way that is compatible with our living spaces. For us, three of the artist's early works have become beloved, admonishing and at the same time decorative companions throughout our lives.
